Halloween Feast
This year we invited Emily, Whitney, and Jeff to our Halloween feast. We NEVER promise it will be gourmet, but it is always fun. Somehow I didn't get a picture of our guests or the main dish of mummy dogs. Yum.
This year we introduced these Halloween worms. Don't they look delicious? These mouths have lovely teeth. Unfortunately the eyes melted off the mashed potato ghosts.
For dessert, we enjoyed our annual favorite of Ghosts in the Graveyard.

Halloween at Last
Did anyone else feel like Halloween was the holiday that was NEVER going to end this year? Maybe it was because it was on a Saturday night, but we were going to Halloween parties for the entire week. I was so glad that the kids had easy costumes to get dressed in this year, or I would have gone completely crazy.
Is this not the cutest little jack o' lantern you have ever seen?Lucy got to try rice cereal for the very first time on Halloween...she was VERY excited.
Saturday was complete with pumpkin carving and trick or treating. Holidays just get more fun every year as the kids are now old enough to participate in everything. I love it.

As Good As It Gets
This is one of only two snapshots that we have of our whole family. I can't believe that in almost six months, this is as good as it gets. I am commissioning Emily to help take family pictures again this year, so hopefully we will take care of it over Thanksgiving
nI also realized that since I am always taking the pictures, I am never in pictures. So, like a complete dork, I have been taking pictures of me with each of the kids to have actual proof that I was around during their childhood. (Isn't Lucy just so sweet? I just can't stand it).

Photography is Hip
Since everyone is now a photographer (so it seems), Avery decided to join in on the fad. I found about 20 surprise pictures on the camera that she had taken...here are a few shots that I thought were cute.

Smith Birthday Celebration - Take 3: Aidan's #4
Aidan waited through the previous two birthday celebrations very patiently, but when his day finally rolled around, he milked every minute he could of birthday attention - smart kid, that Aidan. Similar to Avery's birthday, the kids played all morning with the new toys. He had preschool in the afternoon. He got to take a poster about himself, cookies for snack, and Halloween party bags for all of his friends. I got to go in and help tell about his poster...that kid was so excited to celebrate his #4! For dinner he asked for pizza. For cake, he just wanted yellow cupcakes with chocolate frosting and toy dinosaurs stuck in the top. Whew...finally an easy one! He is such a fun little kid and we have loved every minute having him in our family!

Smith Birthday Celebration - Take 2: Avery's #6
Avery turned 6 years old on October 20. Crazy that we have a kid that is so grown up! She was very excited to wake up to find all her presents on the kitchen table and birthday streamers everywhere. She spent the morning playing with Aidan and her new toys. She was super excited to have school on her birthday because she got to take in a poster all about her as well as take a fun treat to share with the class. In return, she got one cool birthday hat that she wore until it was time for bed. Her dinner request was take-out from Chilis. Last but not least, Avery had the most insane birthday cake because she has such a fabulous mother...this cake was an absolute disaster to make...4 hours of you know what, using crazy amounts of frosting to glue it all together because it kept collapsing, and two trips to Wal-Mart after 11pm = a cute birthday cake for my wonderful, best girl in the world Avery! Glad she had such a great birthday!

Mikey's Big 31....I'm Married to an Old Man!
Mikey's birthday started out super exciting. He spent the entire morning taking the PCAT. Nothing says party like 4-5 hours of test taking. While he was taking his test, I got all wifey and baked a super awesome carrot cake. Honestly, this cake tasted amazing. Since this was the year of using up birthday supplies, we celebrated on last years leftovers, which allowed him to pretend he was still only 30...too bad buddy, 31 it is! At least he got to wear the ever awesome Curious George hat and monkey mask. He then got to spend the afternoon recovering from his recent study/cramming sessions. Football was the perfect recipe for relaxation.
