Chubs

Lucy had her 2 month check-up on Monday. This little chub now weighs 10 lbs 10 oz and is 22.75 inches long. I just can't believe how fast little babies grow...that is almost a 4 lb increase from her birth weight and a 4.25 inch increase in height. No wonder why she wants to eat all day long!

Gummy Smiles

FHE

Since we are still in the process of adjusting to life with 3 kids, our family home evenings are currently very low key. Last week we drove up to the Bountiful Temple to walk around with the kids. The kids loved it. Aidan learned that to go into the temple, you have to "choose the right" and Avery learned about baptisms for the dead.

This is our little snake friend. He was scary. We were driving away from the temple and Mikey noticed him to the side of the road. He was huge, although I wouldn't let Mikey get close enough with the camera to show his enormity. He was very alive, but wasn't slithering any closer. I'd like to think that this creepy little guy wasn't allowed any closer. We called animal control just in case -- there were a lot of joggers and people walking down the sidewalk beside him.

Love love love

This little baby is VERY loved...ALL the time.

The hair...

Once upon a time there was a cute little baby. She had the pokiest hair in all the land. Her mommy and daddy tried to get it not to stick up straight in all different directions, but to no avail, the cute little girl seemed she would have pokey hair forever.

They tried headbands.

They tried funny hair bows.

And then one day, the sweet little baby woke up with most of her hair poking in a normal direction.

And now her mommy kinda misses the pokey hair because the sweet little baby is changing and growing up way too fast every day!

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July weekend up in Boise for the bi-annual Smith family reunion. Unfortunately these are the only pictures I took all weekend. It was fun to see how much all the kids had grown in the past two years!

Lucy spent the weekend doing this...and this is the only time she has ever slept in her carseat for an extended amount of time.

Avery wanted to be in the talent show so badly...she found out about it 30 minutes before it started. She decided to read a book. It was adorable.

Summer Catch-Up

Avery took two weeks of swimming lessons during June. She learned so much and can now jump in, put her head under water, open her eyes under water, and has started swimming basic strokes across the pool. It was so fun to watch her learn. She will be getting a lot more practice since we just joined the rec center that is down the street from our house!

The other picture was taken at Silver Lake up at Brighton while my mom and sister were still here. Despite taking care of a new baby, we did manage to go on a few fun outings.

Dear Germ - X

Dear Germ-X,

Over the last 6 years, you and I have spent a lot of time together. You've been with me at countless stores, every week at church, playgrounds, and on airplanes. You have gotten to know my kids very well and they refer to you endearingly as "germie." I have felt more safe and protected because of you. I have so many memories of you - such as the time when the nurse at the doctor's office complemented me on my perfume and was shocked to find out that instead it was you...or the many times you brought so much happiness to 11 year old Izzy as she attempted to steal you from my purse each week at church, trying to see how long it would take me to notice you were gone. I began buying you in the 2.5 oz bottles, but was ecstatic to find you now in 40 oz bottles which can be found in several locations at my house. However, enough is enough. For so long I didn't know how I could live without you; but then I began to remember I DID live without you for the first 22 years of my life...and you know what? Somehow I lived through all those 22 years without you and life was good! And then I started to get a little angry at you and at Lysol and at Clorox for all those silly commercials on TV magnifying creepy crawly microscopic germs, trying to scare me into using each one of you! And then I got a little angry at myself for falling for your commercials and buying each one of you in massive amounts. Enough is enough. There is a time and a place for you and I am putting you back in that place. No longer will your 8 oz bottle occupy the majority of my purse, but instead the 2.5 oz travel size that is meant for purses. Instead of using you after every store I go into, I will only use you after my shopping is complete (or if I am going to eat something and can't wash my hands). I realize that more germs may be on my hands and that I could even potentially catch a few extra colds - but it is time that I took back control and built up some immunities again before you crush my immune system to smithereens. Best of luck to you. I know we will still see each other on occasion, but believe me, things can never be the same again.

Sincerely,

Natalie

Finally Blogging

When Lucy was four weeks, my neighbor took a few pictures of her. I think we got a few keepers!
