Miraculous I know - Mikey and I got to go out on a DATE last night. This is pretty big news for us, since this rarely happens. We started this babysitting/co-op with a few other families in our neighborhood and last night was the first night. We dropped the kids off and went into the big city for a concert with the Utah Symphony, MoTab, and two guest vocalists. It was amazing for several reasons. First of all, somehow we ended up with amazing seats...dead center on the floor, row 14. The first 12 rows were reserved for dignitaries. Not bad considering the place seats 21,000. Second of all, the concert was sponsored by OC Tanner and was absolutely free. It doesn't matter how old I get, I am always super excited about free stuff, especially when the free stuff is awesome. Finally, the concert was amazing in itself. The soloists were absolutely incredible and nothing beats going to the symphony...brings back my childhood. We had a great night.

Yikes
So today I found Aidan like this...He was running (waddling?) all over the house yelling, "Yook, I'm a penguin!" Although hilarious, I made him pull up his pants.

More Bad Pictures
Avery started playing soccer for the first time this fall. Lets just say that the games are VERY entertaining. I figure it is good exposure and good exercise for Avery to run up and down the field. On occasion she does actually intentionally kick the ball! Next game I need to try to get some pictures of her cute little face instead of the back of her head.

First Day of School
Avery started preschool again on Aug 26. This year we are doing a rotating school where we switch houses every week with five other little girls in our neighborhood. One of the moms was a kindergarten teacher and planned our whole curriculum leaving little work for the rest of us! The first two weeks have been wonderful. I tried to get a picture of Avery after her first day, but this is the BEST I could get.

I Love My Garden
After neglecting the garden for only 2 days, I found all these vegetables today. I am amazing at the life that continually springs forth from my little plants. One of the life lessons I am learning is that things that once seemed overwhelming to me (i.e. gardening, canning, etc) require only a little effort and time to become familiar; the results tend to be satisfying and fulfilling. Harvesting vegetables from the garden and creating healthy meals for my family from them is incredibly rewarding. I am ecstatic that I took a little leap and tried something new (new things often = apprehension for me), hopefully discovering a lifelong hobby that benefits my entire family.

Millions of Peaches
It's peach season again! I drove out to a little farm near my house earlier this week and picked up some peaches, which I quickly devoured. Nothing is better than a perfectly ripe peach sprinkled with cinnamon for breakfast...definitely gives a good start to my day. I think this weekend I might have to indulge and make peach cobbler Paula Dean style. On Monday my friend is going to teach me how to bottle peaches and then we can enjoy the deliciousness all year. Yum. Can't get enough of them!
