FINALLY...Aidan gets to go to Kindergarten

Aidan was so very excited to hop on that school bus this morning. I asked him yesterday if he wanted me to take him on his first day or if he wanted to ride the bus. He told me, "Mom, I've been waiting so many years to ride a bus. One time I got on a school bus but it didn't move and now I am finally going to get to ride on one that moves."


I love that Aidan's teacher, Miss Mary, rode the bus to help the little kids get off at the right stop.

Lucy's 1st Day of Preschool

This year I signed Lucy up for the toddler class at the U of U lab school. Since she has never stayed well in nursery, I was nervous how today would go. I stayed in the class with her for the first 15 minutes and was able to sneak out when she discovered the water table. Aidan, Avery, and I spent a while watching her in the one-way mirror and she seemed to be doing fine - soooo, we actually left and went shopping. We went to pick her up a few minutes early so we could spy on her for a bit. We found her smiling and dancing, but you should have seen how excited she was to see all of us!
I couldn't get her to hold still for any first day pictures, so I had to snap a few while she was running towards me...not bad for motion shots.

One Last Adventure

Yesterday we wanted to go on one last adventure before school started for Lucy today. We decided to check out Mrs. Field's cookie factory. Lucy hated wearing the hairnet, but the cookies and froyo and the end of the tour hopefully made up for the torture.

This is our attempt to take a picture of ourselves wearing our hairnets. Apparently my arm is just too short to fit us all in.

Lunch at the Park

One of our very favorite things about summer is free lunch at Sunnyside Park. Lucy begs to go every day, "I wanna go at yunch at da park!" - we usually make it 2 or 3 times a week. This picture is priceless because I think it captures our whole summer in one shot. I am really going to miss these cute kids while they are at school.

I Always Forget My Camera

On August 16th, we drove up to Pineview with friends from Kaysville. I love Pineview because you can almost convince yourself that you are really at the beach because it is so beautiful - and then you remember you are at a lake. Avery loved getting to spend time with Grace. I loved that the kids took such good care of Lucy. They took her out on a raft and kept her entertained all day. Unfortunately, I didn't take my camera...AGAIN.

On August 19th, we went with the Peterson's from our new ward and hiked to Donut Falls. This is the first hike I have done by myself (sans Mikey) with the three kids. Let's just say Lucy's meager 23 lbs are very heavy in the Kelty. Good thing she wanted to walk a lot. I consider the hike a big success. Everyone had a great time (despite all my kids crying at least once). Again, no camera = no pictures.

More Summer Fun

On August 3rd, we took Keri and her kids up with us to Red Butte. Is it obvious we LOVE this place??? We explored the gardens for about an hour and a half before ending up at the fountains and the Children's Garden. We finished the day with free lunch at the park. This is exactly why it is always sad when summer comes to an end - we just have so much fun.

For Better or For Worse...

For better or for worse, we live at a playground...for better, the kids have a lot of fun. For worse, well, we won't talk about any of that :)

Temple Square

On August 1st, our ward had a FHE at Temple Square. I think we take Temple Square for granted because we live so close - it was nice to have a chance to go downtown and walk around. The kids loved visiting the Christus statue, the Tabernacle, and the Conference Center. Oh, and they thought the popsicles for dessert were delicious (because they were amazing!).

Float Preview Party

A few days before the Days of 47 Pioneer Day parade, there is a float preview party at the Southtowne Expo Center. You can go see all of the floats up close (and for free!). The kids love seeing the floats, but love even more that they get to vote for their favorite. Free face painting and animal balloons added to the excitement. Another fun summer adventure with the Stewarts - funny that we saw them more this summer than when we lived in Davis County.
