We just returned from a week long vacation to San Diego. Mikey had a conference there so we decided to drive down with him. (I am sure he loved riding in the car 11+ hours each way with two kids versus a ninety minute plane ride.) Anyway, while we were there we hit the beach (can you tell it was a little too cold to swim?), Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, Tijuana, and Las Vegas. I think my favorite part of the trip was eating twice at Roy's. Yum. We did learn a few things on this trip.
1. You can still survive old-fashioned car trips. Our DVD player stopped working after we got to St. George. That meant a lot of hours in the car without Dora. We are still alive.
2. Pay the fee to park in the guarded lots by the border when walking across. Luckily our car wasn't stolen.
3. Avery doesn't like to pee on the side of the road.
4. Thank goodness for the concierge at the hotel. (Mikey's traveling does pay off from time to time) A room with unlimited breakfast, cookies, fruit, drinks, and dessert help when spending a lot of time in a hotel with kids.
5. A "Vacation" isn't a vacation for the parents.
Avery's favorite part of Vegas was the "dancing water"
Okay, so my pics are out of order and I can't figure out how to move them around.
This panda bear just climbed up the wall with his back legs and then peed everywhere. Wow.
To make the zoo worth the 55 bucks it cost for me to take the kids, we repeatedly rode the little sky ride back and forth over the park. It helped distract me from thinking about the little girl that spit a lugee on my arm and distracted Avery from thinking about the "mean bird" that pooped on her hand. Over all, the zoo was enjoyable.
This face tells exactly what Aidan thought of Sea World.

wow. i'm especially worried about point 5. i'm exhausted just looking at the pictures. i think i'm in for it starting soon. you'll have to elaborate later on the luge.
Avery, last time I went to the zoo a big bird (like the size of a 15 pound turkey, only with plumage) pooped in my ear. I kid you not. I still get the heeby jeebies. You're brave to move on.
Nick
Aves - uncle jeff here. One time a bird pooped into my dad's Coke and we let him drink it. bird poo can be awesome at times...trust me.
You should come to DC--the zoo here is free and we have a no-bird-poo-on-head guarantee.
sounds like the zoo for me...
I love Sea World! We didn't get to see the new Shamu show, though. The best show there is the one they do in the summer. It's the latest show with the sea lions, otter, etc. They make fun of the other shows and it is FUNNY!!!!!!
