Strawberries

Today the kids and I went to pick strawberries at a local farm. It was definitely a fun little adventure. While Avery and I picked strawberries, Aidan was more impressed with the bright orange flags in the field marking where the picking was best. He did manage to pick a few white berries to drop in his bucket. Although I have been trying to be more healthy and less fat after Whitney's wedding (the trip to NC did wonders for me...biscuits and gravy, Carolina barbecue, Dewey's pink lemonade cake, leftover wedding cake and treats, K & W Cafeteria, Moravian sugar cookies...the list goes on), I couldn't resist making a strawberry pie. Its a once a year treat and it should be made with fresh-picked strawberries...so today was my big chance. The pie was delicious...Mikey and I had to eat two pieces topped with homemade whipped cream (I'm feeling the guilt, thus the confession). I'll run a little further tomorrow.

I always gain 3-4 lbs when I've been home in NC. How did I not become morbidly obese as a child?

Nats - did you have BBQ wings with blue cheese? That was my favorite part of your wedding. Maybe even more than when you got married. So hot and so creamy.

Mmmmm, strawberries! I have been trying to find a place to pick my own berries- how fun! I just made two strawberry rhubarb pies this last weekend- I think I had 3 pieces. :) With ice cream.

You wouldn't want to come now. Mom and Dad are "eating healthy".....they even talked about substituting baked potatoes with baked yams. Can I just say, I did not sign up for that.
