Avery's Baptism

Our attempt at family pictures was thwarted by a sudden onset of freezing cold wind and snow. BUT, at least we have proof that we were there.

Avery was baptized on November 12, 2011. I can't begin to describe what a wonderful experience her baptism was for our family. We loved watching her prepare to be baptized, how excited she was, and how seriously she took her decision. She has been a wonderful example to Mikey and I, but especially to Aidan and Lucy.

I was so grateful to all the friends and family who came to support Avery -- it was overwhelming to see everyone there supporting our little family and helping make it a day she will never forget.

A few things from the day I don't want to forget:

-Lucy seeing Avery walk into the font and yelling, "Look! Avery's going to be a mermaid!"
-Avery's face lighting up seeing all the people who came to be with her. She seriously felt so special.
-Avery was so relieved that the water was so warm. She was so worried it would be cold.
-Avery saying she felt a "cold whoosh" while she was being confirmed and didn't know why :)
-All the help from my parents previous to the baptism. My dad seriously should start a catering business. I couldn't have done it without them. (well, I could have, but it wouldn't have been pretty.)
-Our stake did a wonderful job organizing and running the baptisms. They provided special dresses instead of the traditional jumpsuits. Avery got to go early and pick out a dress. They have special posters for the confirmation room, programs, and special certificates with their pictures on them. They did a wonderful job helping the kids feel important.
